DMS explained

DMS (Deaf Message Service) is a NEW fire safety product that informs deaf or hard of hearing people when the fire alarm sounds in a public place like a supermarket, shopping centre and library. It helps service providers and employers comply with the Equality Act 2010 and allows deaf and hard of hearing people freedom to move around buildings without worry of missing an emergency situation.
The DMS unit can be installed in under half an hour and when the fire alarm sounds, DMS sends a text message (SMS) to the mobile phone of connected users to let them know the fire alarm is sounding. The user becomes connected to DMS by sending one text with the relevant location code, the user is then registered under that location and will be sent a text when the fire alarm sounds.
There are other products out there but (obviously) we think DMS is the best and we will prove it to you. Unlike pager systems, DMS allows deaf or hard of hearing people to use what they already have with them, a mobile phone.
Why DMS is so great!
- Easily installed with no fuss
- Tests itself weekly to check everything is OK
- We don’t install and run, maintenance is provided
- You can pause the unit to do your weekly fire tests
- Only one DMS is needed for each fire panel
- Unlimited range, as long as you have signal you get a message
- Socially responsible....and we all want to be that
- Cost-effective...we would say that...but it really is!
Take a look at our snazzy diagram below which gives you a better explanation.
Stage 1 - Signing up

User visits location where the DMS system is installed.

Signage informs users about DMS and gives them the number to text and location code to put in that text.

User sends a text with the location code to the DMS number.

The clever DMS server receives the text and adds the user to the location given.

The user is sent a text by the server to let them know they are connected to DMS for that location.

After 12 months the user is sent a text asking them to reconnect to DMS
Stage 2 - When the fire alarm sounds

When the fire alarm sounds (unless it’s a test) DMS will send a text to the server.

Users connected to the specific location receive a ‘Fire’ text advising them to evacuate.
Installation – it really is quick and easy!

We will come and install DMS next to your fire panel(s).

An initial text is sent to the DMS server and the server adds the details to the DMS database.

Weekly: the DMS sends a text to the DMS server to check everything is OK. If this isn’t received we will be on the case.

Yearly: we visit you to check and maintain DMS.
To stop all SMS text the word "STOP" to the DMS number. If you want to stop a specific location SMS, text "STOP (location code)"
Please note location codes are displayed on stickers at the specific location.
